Troubleshooting FireWire/Windows compatibility
If you are experiencing issues with FireWire devices in Windows 7 and later, the fix may be to install the Legacy version of the FireWire driver. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the run box and press Enter.
2. Expand "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers".
3. Right click the host controller and select "Update driver software"
4. Select "Browse my computer for driver software".
5. Select "let me pick from a list of device driver on my computer" and check
the box for “Show compatible hardware”.
6. Choose the option for '1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)', and
click next to update the driver.
If it does not show the driver, you can browse to it. The driver is
typically located here: \Program Files (x86)\1394 OHCI Compliant Host
Controller (Legacy)
